Assertive Northwest Property Management Group was founded in 1998 with the aim of providing a level of personalized service rarely encountered with most companies in order to help our clients and their residents take advantage of one of the best places in the world in which to live.

Assertive Northwest Property Management Group is dedicated to teamwork and education. It is our firm belief, proven by experience, that an educated strata is a successful strata. As such, we promote continuing education and encourage all of our clients and staff to attend the various strata educational seminars and other learning opportunities hosted by the array of professional condominium associations in BC.

History & Experience

Assertive Northwest Property Management Group Inc. was founded in 1998 with the aim of providing the highest quality, personalized service to its clients. The company was started by Patricia Graham; Jim Allison took over as managing broker in 2008. Assertive Northwest Property Management Group enjoys a relatively low client turnover rate, with some of our properties remaining under our management for as long as 13 years.

Jim Allison, Managing Broker, Property Manager, President and owner of Assertive Northwest Property Management Group, has over 29 years of experience in the property management industry. He has worked together with strata corporations towards improving their financial wellbeing and transparency, as well as fostering a welcoming community.  He has managed such diverse properties including a 454 strata lot parking garage and a townhouse and apartment complex with a golf course and marina. Jim is also a recognized workshop facilitator and has spoken on numerous topics, including insurance, depreciation reports, strategies for dispute resolution, and strata team building. He has been with Assertive Northwest Property Management Group since 2000.

Jim is a major advocate for continuing education. As such, he is on the executive board of the Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI) National and CCI Vancouver. CCI hosts several seminars each year on various topics related to strata living. Jim encourages all council members, as well as his staff, to attend these seminars to become better educated about their property investments. In addition, Jim supports volunteerism in a big way. He has volunteered with various professional, sport, and charity groups, including Big Brothers and Speed Skating Canada.

Nizam Dossa, Associate Broker, Property Manager and Vice President of Assertive Northwest Property Management Group, has over 21 years of experience in strata management and has taught various courses in real estate at Langara College for years. One of the courses he teaches regularly is Advanced Strata Management course which is designed specifically for new strata managers. During his class, strata managers will develop “hands-on” knowledge and skills for problem solving and acquire a deeper understanding of how to handle everyday challenges pertaining to statutory compliance, annual general meetings, council meetings, mixed-use stratas, budget preparation, financial reserves, building maintenance, insurance claims, and time management.

Overview of Services

Assertive Northwest Property Management Group provides full-service management to strata corporations of any size and complexity in the Lower Mainland. We promote environmentally friendly methods of communication by using email and the internet. Our property managers are never more than a click away whenever a member of council or other resident at your strata complex has a question. All of our property managers carry cell phones so that they can be reached for after-hours emergencies, if need be.

Assertive Northwest Property Management Group believes highly in building strong relationships, not only with our clients whose properties we manage, but also with the contractors and providers who service those properties. We maintain databases of each strata corporations’ preferred contractors, making it easy for us to find their number, give them a call, and even ask for your strata's preferred member of staff within that company. This means we don’t waste any time looking things up via online search engines. We have all the information we need accessible to us in one place at any time via our online Web Portal. What this means for your strata is that whenever something goes wrong – a window gets broken, a graffiti tag needs removal, a pipe bursts – we can act quickly to have the right people onsite in as little time as possible to get the job done.

We endeavor to provide prompt and efficient communication to everyone within a strata corporation. After all, communication is the key to all successful relationships. Owners are encouraged to email any questions or concerns they may have to their property manager directly. Or, they can pick up the phone and make a quick call to our office. If the property manager isn’t available, someone else will do their best to answer every question. Moving forward with the times and technology, we are working towards distributing all meeting minutes via email and we encourage all owners to participate in this undertaking. However, this service is optional, and traditional paper copies and mailings are still available.

Our Strata Web Portal makes us stand out from the crowd. This online data management system makes communication and access to information much easier for council members, residents, and our property managers. This system is web-based, and therefore accessible 24/7, and can store any and all information required or desired by your strata corporation. This system is constantly evolving, and is capable of being customized to suit the needs of your property and its residents. This system saves time, money, and the environment, and streamlines many menial tasks. It makes the storage, organization, and access of any range of data incredibly simple and easy to use.
